Kurt Cobain:(February 20, 1967 – April 5, 1994)
"Take a rest, as a friend, as an old memory."
16 years? Has it really been 16 years? It's hard to fathom that music suffered the traumatic loss of one of its most intellectual, and consequently influential, creators 16 years ago today. Let's reexamine that last sentence, because the operative, and often controversial word, is "loss". Quibbling about the definition of the word “loss” and it’s relation to Cobain may seem incredibly inane to the casual reader; but that word serves as a point of contention among the legions of Nirvana fans. Subsequent to the tragic events of April 5 1994 there has been an increasingly large segment growing within the fandom that believes Kurt Cobain was STOLEN. As new evidence comes to light, after being buried under shoddy forensic work and mountains of inadequate investigative procedures, there are multitudinous holes in the suicide theory we were all collectively force-fed.
If you still desire justice for Kurt Cobain educate yourself. With enough support reopening the case can become a reality.
But today isn’t for grieving. Today we nurture the flame that is his legacy by celebrating his all too short life. Pick your favorite Nirvana song, watch them all, or pick the one that best helps you remember Kurt as he was.
